When persons of all genders have equal rights, responsibilities, and opportunities, this is referred to as gender equality. Gender inequality affects everyone: men, women, trans and gender diverse people, children, and families. It affects people of all ages and from all walks of life.
Gender equality is to ensure women and men should have equal access to socially valuable products, opportunities, resources, and incentives. When there is gender inequality, women are disproportionately excluded or disadvantaged in decision-making and access to economic and social resources. Women's empowerment, with a focus on detecting and redressing power disparities and enabling women to have more autonomy to manage their own lives, is a vital part of advancing gender equality.
Gender equality does not imply that men and women become equals; rather, it means that men and women have equal access to opportunities and life changes regardless of their gender. It is imperative to understand that men and women are both different but this distinction is not necessarily bad, women must embrace their uniqueness and so do men.
